One of the most abundant elements on earth is an excipient that is approved for use in foods, including dietary supplements. Food grade silica, a component of the diet, is used in the powder mix inside some formulas in capsule or tablet form (not softgels) at a very low percentage of the formula. Silica (as silicon dioxide) is an excipient used to aid in flowing materials into tablets or capsules and keeping supplements drier for better stability. Excipients like silica normally total only around 1% or so of a formula like this, or up to two percent in some products. Its safety and value in human health has been demonstrated, especially for bone health.
