What this Supplement is
Many parts of the European elder tree, from its bark to the berries have long been used in European cultures. Its dark purple tart elderberries specifically contain anthocyanins which have antioxidant properties. As a class of fruits, berries are high in anthocyanins as compared to other fruits such as apples and peaches. Among the berries, elderberries have approximately 3 times the amount of anthocyanins as compared to red raspberries and 6 times the amount of anthocyanins as compared to strawberries.[1] These elderberry gummies are made with 100mg of black elderberry fruit extract, 90 mg of vitamin C and 7.5 mg of zinc per serving. They’re a delicious and convenient way to get the little bit of extra immune system support you may need.†

What dietary shortfalls does this product address?
Elderberries contain anthocyanins which have antioxidant properties. Up to 45% of people in the US don’t get enough vitamin C in their diets [2]. In addition, factors such as smoking, or air pollution can affect how quickly the body uses vitamin C. Vegetarians or vegans may be at risk of a zinc shortfall as plant-based foods provide less zinc than animal-based foods. Alcohol intake and GI conditions may also affect zinc absorption and loss.
Where do we normally get Elderberry from?
Elderberry comes from the European elder which is a tree native to Europe, Northern Africa and Western and Central Asia. Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, grapefruit and limes. It’s also found in tomatoes and strawberries. Zinc can be found in fortified whole-grain oat cereal, soybeans, or chicken.
Who might need to take this product?
